Maria Maroulis has
been singing and performing since the age of 8.
In her high school years she performed in various productions such
as Jesus Christ Superstar, The Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat, Carmen
and many others. She graduated from the N.S.W Talent Development Project
in 1999. Some performers which have come out from that program are
likes of, Human Nature, Paulini (Australian Idol), John Foreman (Musical
Director). From there she went on to perform in numerous Talent circuits
where she achieved various nominations and awards..
Maria has been a backup vocalist for singer Vanessa
Amorosi at the ARIA AWARDS, NRL Opening and Closing Games at the
Olympic Homebush Stadium along with Hugh Jackman, Thelma Huston
and Rick Price. She also has made some TV appearances with Vanessa
on Molly Meldrum’s house Of Hits, Morning with Kerry Anne, Pepsi
Charts, CH V and support act for the Savage Garden Tour 2000.
Having a Greek father and Italian mother, Maria
was asked if she could sing Greek, the answer was no. She had been
performing in various shows and until this point in time they were
all in English.
Maria was asked by her agent to learn some Greek
songs to support John Tikis for his Australian Tour. From then on
she fell in love with the passion of the Greek songs and continued
to learn more. Working with the Paradise band in Sydney she slowly
built a name in the Greek community.
She has gone on and has been the support act
for International Greek singers on the their Australian Concerts
such as Anna Vissi, Lefteris Pantazis, Cristos Dantis,Vasilli Karra,
Kondolazos, and many others.
She has been performing at Australia’s premier
Greek night club, Kinisi Live for the last 3 years, in that time
she also performed at Sydney’s Greek club Notes Live throughout
2007. Through this Maria has achieved a massive following and a
great number of fans in both Sydney and Melbourne.
Over the past two years, Maria has been working
on her First Album. She worked with Composer Theo Marantis a musician
from Melbourne and Lyricist Michael Falaras from Sydney to produce
13 original Greek tracks. Maria also teamed up with ‘TOMMIROCK’
coming up with 2 hot English tracks for her album. The album has
15 tracks in total and varies in style, keeping the traditional
Greek styles but mixing it in with music of today.
There are so many emotions that come alive when
you discuss the Album with Maria, that you can only really understand
her passion and love for singing when you see and hear her and feel
the power of her performance.
Maria explains, “I feel at this stage in my life
the CD couldn’t have come at a better time. I wanted to give something
back to the people that have supported me. It is an album for all
generations”.
Maria’s dedication and determination has allowed
her to achieve what she has to date and the launch of her first
Album will be one of many more successes.
